Daniel Mazur: Championing Innovation from the Heart of Prague
“Innovation never exists in a vacuum. It needs bold leadership, smart policy, and long-term investment.”
With this rallying thought, Daniel Mazur of Prague City Hall addressed a full house at Innovations United 2025, not only as a public official but as a committed advocate for building an ecosystem where innovation thrives locally and scales globally.
Mazur highlighted the decade-long journey Prague has taken to embed innovation into its civic DNA. Central to this progress is a dedicated grant program, which he co-founded two years ago. It replaced one-off, informal funding with a structured and transparent mechanism, distributing over 5–6 million CZK annually to events and programs that support innovators.
“We want talented people to stay here and build value from Prague to the world.”
Beyond funding, Mazur spotlighted key partnerships and institutions where Prague plays an active role:
- Prague AI – bridging academia, startups, and city governance
- ESA BIC – the European Space Agency’s startup incubator
- Creative Prague – promoting entrepreneurship in creative industries
- Prague Innovations Institute – nurturing youth entrepreneurship and piloting early-stage projects
His message to the audience was one of continued commitment. Prague isn’t just the scenic backdrop for European innovation—it is becoming the engine.
“I’m proud to see you all here. Many of you are standing because we’ve run out of seats. That tells me this community is alive and growing.”
Daniel Mazur’s address was a reminder that while startups innovate, cities can and must empower them with the right frameworks, infrastructure, and vision.
We are greatfull that Prague City Hall financially supported Innovations United.
