The new cooperation and memorandum signed on 26 June 2023 by Ondřej Soška, Commissioner General of the Czech participation at EXPO 2025, and Patrik Juránek, CEO of Startup Disrupt, at the Lobkowicz Palace at Prague Castle aims to present the Czech Republic as an innovative and technological nation and attract interest in technology, startups, and investments.
The presentation of the cooperation took place during a meeting of partners and supporters of the Czech participation in EXPO 2025, which took place in the Lobkowicz Palace at Prague Castle. It was attended by about two hundred participants, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Lipavský, and the Japanese Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Hideo Suzuki. In addition to joint efforts to attract interest in technology and startups, the Memorandum emphasizes, among other things, the need to expand cooperation between Czech and Japanese startups, technology companies, universities, and science centers. The aim is also to give space to successful startups and projects suitable for investment.
“The theme of the Czech participation at the World Expo in Osaka will be Talent and Creativity for Life. I see startups as the engine of technological progress, and they can often bring unconventional and innovative solutions that move our society forward. And they often need a good dose of creativity to do so. The biggest technological innovations have always been presented at world exhibitions, so connecting with startups makes a lot of sense for us,” says Ondřej Soška, the Commissioner General of the Czech participation at EXPO 2025, about the newly established cooperation.
“Startup Disrupt educates and connects startup founders, innovators, investors, media, companies and the public sector. We help build companies from ideas to startups to global companies. The Czech startup community is full of companies with international ambitions. Expo in Japan is a global business and networking platform, and at the same time, Japan is an important market where Czech companies with innovative products will be successful,” explains Startup Disrupt CEO Patrik Juránek.
