The First AI Data Center in the Czech Republic Will Be Built Near Brno by MasterDC

Brno/Kanice, October 9, 2025 – A new AI-focused data center is set to rise in Kanice near Brno. The innovative facility will be developed within a former military complex, including secure telecommunications bunkers originally designed as nuclear shelters — making the site uniquely secure and resilient. MasterDC, the technology company behind the project, plans to renovate existing structures, allowing the center to become the first operational AI data center in the Czech Republic by fall 2026.

Construction will begin this November, and the facility aims to strengthen AI infrastructure not only in Moravia but across the country. The announcement was made during the Innovation Week trade fair by representatives of MasterDC, which will operate the center. Thanks to the reuse of an existing high-security complex, the project will be delivered in a significantly shorter time frame than building from scratch.

“It would typically take years to build a high-performance AI data center. Since we own the Kanice site, we can have it up and running within months. The location meets our key requirements: top-tier security and a low-impact construction process,” said Karel Diviš, Commercial Director at MasterDC.

Connecting Czech AI to Silicon Europe

The project has received non-financial logistical support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, South Moravian Region, and the City of Brno. This strategic investment could bring significant innovation to the region and create new high-tech jobs, boosting the Czech Republic’s AI capabilities and knowledge base.

“The Czech National Semiconductor Cluster supports MasterDC’s initiative, as it can benefit both academic and industrial members involved in chip design and R&D of emerging technologies,” said Stanislav Černý, President of the Czech National Semiconductor Cluster.

Scalable Capacity to Match Growing Demand

The data center’s computing power will be used by universities, research institutions, and industrial partners. It will support intensive workloads such as chip design, quantum simulations, and AI model training and inference. With market demand already high and expected to grow rapidly, the facility will scale in phases based on user needs.

A 5 MWp photovoltaic power plant will be built both on-site and off-site to provide renewable energy. In its first phase, the center will offer 4 MW of power capacity and host around 80 to 100 racks. The total projected capacity of the site is 25 MW.

“Our goal is not to pour capital into massive infrastructure upfront, but to gradually scale based on real market demand. We’re focusing on services such as private AI cloud deployments, colocation for AI workloads, and GPU server rentals,” Diviš added.
